What is AOP?
In AOP systems, the highly unstable hydroxyl free radicals react with dissolved waterborne contaminants in a series of strong oxidation reactions. This process happens almost instantaneously. AOP systems also destroy and prevent chloramines - formed when chlorine reacts with swat or urine - that cause "pool smell" as well as eye and skin irritations, which dramatically increases water clarity and improves the pool experience.
AOP is the Advanced Oxidation Process. When germicidal UV light (UV-C) and ozone react, the result is the production of hydroxyl radicals. This reaction is called Advanced Oxidation Process or AOP. Hydroxyl radicals (OH) are the most powerful oxidation agents available. They quickly destroy bacteria, viruses, pathogens and other contaminants that occur in the water.
AOP is the most powerful advanced sanitizer. It has a higher Oxidation Potential than any other residential pool oxidizer available. Its more than double the power of common water treatments like chlorine. In fact, AOP is even more powerful than Ozone.
DEL AOP systems use patented Advanced Plasma Gap cells to generate ozone as part of the Advanced Oxidation Process. The APG cells produce more ozone and last longer than UV-based ozone generation or traditional CD cells.
