Super impressed with this heat pump. I bought because my 15 foot above ground pool was losing heat over night. I had pool at 61F (17C) before install. With two days of running with night temps of 7C and day 25C it brought pool to 88F (30C). I am super impressed with performance. Very efficient, very quite (my pump is 3x louder) and set and forget system you don't need to think about. Variable speed drive makes 15 amp GFi breakers work no inrush currents. Now can swim probably into October and start in May. No special start up needed. Just did electrical and plumbing myself and turned on. Aswell pool products price is good. My local retailer wanted same model for $1200 more then this site. You can't beat this price. Overall great heater I would recommend if you have 15 foot or 18 foot. Larger then that probably would need higher btu unit
We installed the Hayward heat pump and have been enjoying it ever since. Keeps temps up at night as opposed to solar where you will get temp drops overnight. Installation is easy and operation is surprisingly quiet!

Finally decided to heat the pool this year. Our pool never got really warm throughout summer otherwise. We have a 21' round above ground pool (so around 50,000L).
Installation was a breeze. No issues whatsoever although it's not super apparent in the manual that the heater needs to be higher than the water line. It's a one liner comment in the beginning of the manual.
I set it up just about AT the water line though as it would have looked odd being so high. Didn't set up any kind of bypass. It's going to be completely disconnected from the plumbing for winter anyway. Didn't see the need.
Can't believe how quiet this thing is! Hard to tell it's even running. I 'MAY' try the cooling if the pool gets too hot this summer. We've hit days of 86-88 since the water doesn't lose all it's heat at night like before. When it starts the morning at 82 it goes up fairly quickly when we have those week long heat waves.
Super happy with the purchase. As was mentioned the controls leave a bit to be desired. I hate control panels with 2-3 buttons that have to be pressed in certain ways to access certain things. Give me a full keypad any day. The display is really limited as well. This makes the control panel/display not very user friendly. Thank goodness I only need it to heat the water and I don't have lower/higher hydro rates to it's set it and forget it for us.
